Since July 2022, the Association Ukranian Pig Breeders has been actively promoting the resumption of supply chains in the domestic pork market interrupted by war. This support for producers and processors is supported by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations («FAO»).

The project aims to facilitate coordination between domestic producers and their potential counterparts and to improve the availability of the necessary production resources.

«Over the past three months, AUPB has regularly monitored the needs and key barriers of pork producers and processors. In response to operators' requests received during the survey during July-September, the ASU facilitated the redirection of pork products (commercial piglets, slaughter pigs, chilled pork half-carcasses) for over UAH 23 million (USD 0.63 million at NBU exchange rate), and provided humanitarian aid with veterinary drugs and feed supplements to over 15 companies from Donetsk, Zaporozhye, Kharkiv and Chernigov regions for more than UAH 6 million. Since the beginning of the war, the Association provides a wide range of advice to pork producers — from market trends in the segment of trade in slaughter animals, breeding stock, commodity piglets and key feed ingredients to support of correct fixation of losses from military aggression and finding free production facilities for production relocation», commented in the Association Ukranian Pig Breeders.

As before the war, the Association maintains close cooperation with the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Ministry of Economy, State Service: «In the third quarter of 2022 one of the priority areas of cooperation between the industry association and state agencies was the preparation for the opening of the EU markets for domestic pork».

The Association Ukranian Pig Breeders is a non-profit, voluntary organization founded by domestic pork producers. The main objectives of the association are representation and protection of rights and interests of the association farms, assistance in the development and introduction of new technologies for the efficient production of pork, the expansion of markets, and protection of domestic markets.
