Shipments nearly tripled amid expectations of a new trade agreement coming into force.

In early 2026, US pork exports to Taiwan recorded a sharp increase following a low base last year. This is according to data from the USDA, compiled by the US Meat Export Federation.

In January–February, export volumes to Taiwan rose by 175% year-on-year to 2,700 metric tons. In value terms, exports increased by 162% to approximately $7 million.

The growth reflects a recovery in demand after weak performance last year, as well as expectations of improved trade conditions. In February, a bilateral trade agreement was announced, предусматриває reductions in both tariff and non-tariff barriers for US pork in the Taiwanese market.

However, the agreement has not yet entered into force, indicating further potential for export growth once it is implemented.

Overall, Taiwan is gradually regaining its role as a promising market for US pork, while new trade arrangements may further boost export dynamics in the near term.
