During last years Ukrainian vets considerable improved the epizootic situation with charbon, tuberculosis, leucosis, the Newcastle disease. Currently, there are only some places in Ukraine with such diseases. The workers of the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service pay much attention to infectious diseases common to people and animals. This was announced by Volodymyr Horzheev, the Head of the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service.
«There is a controlled situation with charbon due to aimed specilists’ work in all regions. As on Novevember 1, in Ukraine there are only two cases of charbon: in Cherkasy and Zaporizhzhya regions. But due to effective interference the outbreak has been localized and eliminated», the Head of the Department said.
There are three unfavourable places in Ukraine with tuberculosis, in Vinnytsya, Kirovohrad and Cherkasy regions.
According to the Head of the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service the situation with leucosis has become better. Currently, there are only six cases: three in Donetsk region, two in Rivno region and one in Kharkiv region.
Nevertheless, the Newcastle disease is controlled.
«To prevent this disease the workers the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service vaccinate poultry on individual farms. Since the beginning of 2012 66.4 million poultry heads have been vaccinated to prevent the Newcastle disease», Volodymyr Horzheev said.
The Head of the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service has also informed that due to permanent, effective control and infectious diseases preventing measures there is no case of rinderpest or African horse sickness in Ukraine.
