According to experts' forecasts in 2023, farmers will reduce the sowing of corn, wheat and barley and sow more oilseeds as a substitute. In this case, going to the domestic consumption of agricultural products enough for the whole country, - said the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy Alexander Haidu.

The parliamentarian predicts that farmers will increase the volume of sunflower, rapeseed and soybeans. "This will be, in particular, due to the fact that the yield of these crops per hectare is less, but the cost is higher than cereals," said the Chairman of the Committee and added that in general, according to forecasts, sown areas in 2023 will be reduced by 15-20%.

According to him, this also means a decrease in the country's export potential, as less corn will be planted, which was the main export commodity in previous years. "However, we expect a certain increase in the profitability of agricultural products. After all, "grain corridor" works, although with difficulty," said Alexander Haidu.

Also, he noted, thanks to the deoccupation of part of Kherson this year may resume the cultivation of vegetables, fruits and berries, a deficit of which Ukrainians felt last year.

"I am sure that there will be no food crisis in Ukraine, we have enough resources to provide the country with all groups of agricultural products. We expect the return of all our territories, farms, so that people can again work effectively in a free and peaceful Ukraine," Alexander Gaidu added.
