The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Ukraine has signed a memorandum of understanding with Ukraine's Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food to support the recovery of the agricultural sector from the effects of war.
The cooperation involves development and dissemination of digital tools, improvement of access to green finance for Ukrainian agricultural producers and implementation of environmental, social and governance principles (ESG).
Acting UNDP Resident Representative in Ukraine Manal Fowani emphasized that this strategic cooperation with the Ministry of Agrarian Policy is just one example of UNDP's efforts to strengthen an inclusive, equitable and smart agricultural recovery in Ukraine.
"It is impressive to see that even in times of war, the Ministry is committed to the continued development of the agricultural sector through collaboration with UNDP," said Fowani.
"Our partnership will make better access to green finance, digital tools, low-carbon technologies and carbon markets possible. Our joint efforts will contribute to Ukraine's green recovery, ensuring agriculture's role in Ukraine's nationally defined contribution to the Paris Agreement. And most importantly, our partnership will help Ukraine maintain its position as one of the key suppliers of agricultural products around the world."
Denis Bashlyk, Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalization, noted that the expanded partnership with UNDP will help rebuild Ukraine's agricultural sector from the effects of war.
