Paraguay has exported pork to the Philippine market for the first time. The initial shipment, weighing more than 27 tonnes, consisted of bone-in pork ribs, while the country plans to supply at least one container of pork per month to the new market. The first shipment was announced by Paraguay’s National Animal Health and Quality Service (SENACSA).

The shipment was dispatched on July 9, 2026. It consisted of 27,002 kg of bone-in pork ribs in net weight, while the total gross weight of the cargo reached 28,010 kg.

SENACSA noted that the opening of the Philippine market resulted from efforts to expand the geographical reach of Paraguayan exports of animal-origin products. The agency believes the new destination will strengthen the country’s position as a supplier of safe, high-quality food products to Asia.

At the initial stage, Paraguay plans to ship one container of pork to the Philippines each month. At the same time, SENACSA emphasised that the market offers significant potential for further growth in trade volumes.

The opening of the new export destination was made possible through cooperation between public authorities and the private sector. Paraguayan producers expect to continue expanding the presence of their pork products in Asian markets.

Since the beginning of 2026, Paraguay has exported more than 8.72 million kg of pork and pork by-products. The total FOB value of these shipments exceeded US$25.5 million.

According to SENACSA, these figures demonstrate the steady growth of Paraguay’s pork industry and its strengthening position in international markets.
