During the first four months of the Interim Trade Agreement between Mercosur and the European Union, the value of Argentina’s agro-industrial exports to the EU reached $1.922 billion — 21% above the average for the same period over the previous three years. The strongest growth was recorded in exports of beef and sheep products, animal feed and food ingredients.

The figures cover the period from 1 May to 31 August. According to the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of Argentina’s Ministry of Economy, particularly strong growth was recorded in exports of products benefiting from tariff reductions under the agreement.

The value of exports of these products increased by 44%, or $372 million, compared with the average for the previous three years.

In the beef sector, the value of exports to the EU increased by 50%. Even stronger growth was recorded in sheep products, up 154%, animal feed, up 75%, and food ingredients, up 116%.

In 2025, the European Union was Argentina’s second most important destination for agro-industrial exports after China, contributing more than $6 billion to the country’s trade balance.

Over the past three years, the EU has also remained the leading export market for several Argentine sectors, including soybeans, fishery products, peanuts, citrus fruits, pulses, rice and sheep products, while ranking as the second most important market for beef.
