Laboratory tests dated 30 July officially confirmed the presence of the ASF virus. This was reported by the Pervomaisk District Office of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection in Mykolaiv region.
A private household in the village of Kumari was designated as the outbreak site.
A 3-km protection zone was established around the outbreak. It includes the village of Kumari in the Vradiivka community and another village of the same name, Kumari, in the Kamianyi Mist community.
A 10-km surveillance zone was also established. It covers 18 settlements in the Vradiivka, Kamianyi Mist, Kryve Ozero and Pervomaisk communities.
The settlements included in the surveillance zone include the urban-type settlements of Vradiivka and Kamianyi Mist, as well as the village of Kinetspil.
The decision to establish the quarantine zones was adopted by a special anti-epizootic commission. Measures aimed at containing the outbreak and preventing further spread of the virus are to be implemented within the designated areas.
