On June 2, Odesa hosted a training session for specialists of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection (SSUFSCP) within the framework of the EpiC project. The event focused on combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and implementing modern approaches to monitoring and controlling antibiotic use in animal production.

The training brought together veterinary inspectors, authorized veterinarians, and epizootiologists. The event aimed to strengthen participants’ inspection capacity and enhance their practical skills in monitoring the use of veterinary medicinal products in accordance with the requirements of Ukraine’s new veterinary legislation.

Participants reviewed practical aspects of state control over the use of veterinary medicines, the provisions of the updated veterinary regulatory framework, and approaches to AMR monitoring. Particular attention was paid to record-keeping requirements, proper storage conditions for veterinary medicines, and the supervision of their use at livestock production facilities.

The practical component of the training included case-study exercises and group inspection simulations, allowing participants to practice decision-making and inspection procedures in typical field situations.

The training was organized within the international EpiC project in cooperation with the Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders (AUPB). The initiative aims to strengthen professional capacity in animal health management and support efforts to combat antimicrobial resistance.

The next training session for SSUFSCP representatives will take place on June 18 in Lviv.

Participation in the events is free of charge; however, the number of places is limited.
