At the beginning of November, the downward movement of prices for pigs of slaughter conditions continued, according to the analytical department of the Association Ukranian Pig Breeders.

Last week the pork market operators saw a decrease in purchase prices by 1.5−3 UAH / kg. The majority of central parts sold at 68−71 UAH/kg, in the East the prices fluctuated at 66−70 UAH/kg, in the Western regions they were 66−68 UAH/kg. The prices below UAH 66 / kg were encountered sporadically in the eastern regions, and only when booking lots after the main auction — on Monday-Tuesday of this week.

The weighted average selling price of pigs of slaughter conditions this week was at the level of 67.4 UAH/kg, which is 2.9% less than last year.

The key factors that put pressure on prices are increased competition between processors on the background of reduced trading activity and more cautious purchase of live stock. Thus, representatives of the meat processing industry were forced to adjust the volumes of procurement in order to prevent the formation of transient balances of products due to violations of delivery schedules of chilled pork due to frequent air raids and power outages.

The results of the weekly monitoring of purchase prices from processors can be found in this column.
