Because of the military actions 40% of greenhouses in Ukraine have stopped their work, others continue to work, but with a smaller output. At the same time in order to support the construction of new greenhouses, the government has initiated grant programs, the number of applications for which is growing every month. First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Taras Vysotskiy told about it on the air of the national marathon «Unified News».

«Designing requires 2−3 months, so agricultural producers have actively started applying since October-November. Applications for 20 hectares, for 70 million UAH, have been confirmed. At the expense of these greenhouses will be created about 250 jobs. Under this program we have the possibility to finance projects for several hundreds of greenhouses», — Taras Vysotskiy commented.

According to him, due to the lack of electricity there is no way to accelerate the growth of production, so it occurs naturally. It affects the volume of grown fruit and vegetables, which reduces the amount of supply on the market, but there is no deficit. As a result, greenhouse businesses are on the verge of profitability. «However, there is an expectation that there will be a recovery from the spring», — stressed the First Deputy Minister.

He also commented the situation with the provision of Ukrainians with borsch set — potatoes, onions, carrots, cabbage, beets.

«These vegetables do not depend on greenhouse cultivation. We have sufficient production of potatoes. With cabbage — similarly, the main laying season was in the fall, it is enough. A little less beets and carrots, but not critical, given the reduction in consumption. The most difficult situation is with onions, which were grown in the open field by 80−90% in the southern regions, most of them in Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions. That is why we import it. The logistics are adjusted, there is no physical deficit,» Taras Vysotsky said.
