European pork exports decrease nearly 30%

The decline in exports to China has led to a significant decrease in total EU pork exports.

In the first quarter of this year, European exports totaled 1,142,712 tons, a decrease of 28.7% compared to the same period last year.

Between January and March, 353,294 tons of pork were exported to China, 63.1% less than in the same period of the previous year. In contrast, exports to Japan, the Philippines, and South Korea, which represent 10.8%, 10.4%, and 9% of total exports, increased by 58.6%, 23.8%, and 96%, respectively.

This data does not take into account EU exports to the United Kingdom, which, in January and February received more than 130,000 t of EU pork, making it the second-largest destination for European pork, with 15.2% of the total.
