The daily work of state veterinary inspectors of the interregional main departments of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection at the state border is, in particular, to check the safety of food, feed, and animal by-products imported (sent) into the customs territory of Ukraine in accordance with the requirements of the Law of Ukraine «On State Control over Compliance with Legislation on Food, Feed, Animal By-Products, Animal Health and Welfare».
According to the interregional main departments of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection at the state border, in the first three quarters of this year, state veterinary inspectors checked a total of 474,071 tons of imported animal products, including
meat and meat products — 94,294 tons;
milk and dairy products — 41,109 tons
fish and fish products — 221,469 tons;
eggs and egg products — 125 tons;
food products of animal origin (other) — 8,319 tons;
feed of animal origin — 99,218 tons;
by-products of animal origin — 9,537 tons.
Based on the results of the inspections, 376 tons of products were not allowed into the customs territory of Ukraine due to non-compliance with the domestic legal requirements.
We remind you that the market operator (importer) is responsible for the introduction of food products into the territory of Ukraine, but the control is on the side of the state, within the functions and competencies of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection.
