African swine fever was confirmed at a farm in Somogy County. The holding has a total of 1,850 pigs. Following detection of the virus, a decision was made to cull all animals on the farm.
This is the second ASF case reported in domestic pigs in Hungary.
Earlier, the country confirmed its first outbreak of the disease in domestic pigs in eight years. The new case increases animal health risks for Hungary’s pig sector and may require additional measures to prevent further spread of the virus.
