The events brought together representatives of local government authorities, community heads, professionals from the social and education sectors, civil society organisations and other specialists who work directly with local residents.
During the training sessions, participants discussed the causes of antimicrobial resistance, the consequences of uncontrolled antibiotic use and the role of territorial communities in promoting a responsible approach to animal treatment. Considerable attention was devoted to the practical aspects of risk communication, addressing common myths and using effective tools to engage with animal owners.
The practical component included the analysis of real-life situations, interactive exercises and teamwork. This enabled participants to practise approaches to informing the public and disseminating knowledge about the responsible use of antimicrobials at the community level.
The training was conducted under the Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) project, funded by the U.S. Department of State, with the participation of the Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders.
The next training session for representatives of territorial communities under the project will take place on 4–5 August in Uzhhorod.
