USAID to consider $100 million to support small and medium business in Ukraine

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmigal and Isobel Coleman, First Deputy Administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) discussed Ukraine's rapid recovery and financial support. The meeting was also attended by First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine —  Minister of Economy Yulia Sviridenko.

Denis Schmigal spoke about the priorities of rapid recovery in Ukraine: restoration of energy infrastructure, housing, humanitarian demining, restoration of critical and social infrastructure, as well as assistance to the private sector.

Prime Minister thanked for the transfer of a 25 MW General Electric gas turbine station to Ukraine and expressed hope for additional units that would help to ensure the stability of critical infrastructure in Ukraine.

Denis Schmigal also called on USAID to join the programs to support Ukrainian entrepreneurs.

According to the USAID representatives, support for small and medium sized enterprises is a promising direction and they will consider funding it in the amount up to $100 million.
