The Liberian-flagged bulk carrier BRAVE COMMANDER left the port of Yuzhny on August 16. 23,000 tons of wheat left for Ethiopia to overcome the hunger problem in East Africa. This was announced in his tweet by the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Markiyan Dmitrasevich. The ship was chartered within the framework of the World Food Program of the UN.

It should be noted that in recent years, Ukraine has maintained leadership in the World Food Programme (WFP) on food deliveries for humanitarian operations. Overall, Ukraine sent 20% of food from UN programs in 2021. Ukraine's share was greater than Turkey and Russia together.

In the first half of 2022, WFP purchased about 60,000 tons of wheat and 36,500 tons of peas for export.

We shall remind you that 17 vessels have already departed from Ukrainian ports within the framework of the Safe Transportation of Agri-products Initiative. On board there are more than 475 thousand tons of foodstuffs.
