At the beginning of October price trends in the market of pigs of slaughter conditions were divided by regions again. For example, the majority of operators in the Center made the commodity lots 1−2 UAH / kg more expensive than at the end of September — 77−78 UAH / kg. In the East the purchase prices remained at the same level — 78−80 UAH/kg. In the western regions quotations weakened by 1−2 UAH/kg, so the price per kilo of pork gravitated to 75−76 UAH/kg.
The main reason for the «return» of the regional divergence of prices is the heterogeneity of supply and demand of pork in different parts of the country. In particular, the limited supply of pork in the East of the country and the consequent need of local processors to buy pork meat in the central regions serves as a support to purchase prices, while the western regions have felt the increased price competition from imported products, the import of which increased somewhat over the past two weeks. Despite this and processors' expectations of weaker feed prices, including due to traditional seasonal factors, a number of operators still enter the market with fewer and smaller consignments of animals, which partially relieves the pressure on purchase prices.
The results of the weekly monitoring of the procurement prices from the processors you can find in this column.
