In the second decade of November, the direction of price movement in the slaughter pig market changed not in favour of producers, analysts of the Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders state, citing the results of weekly monitoring.

Last Friday's trading ended with a downward revision of purchase prices by 2-4 UAH/kg. Thus, conditioned commercial pigs this week are mostly purchased at 59-61.5 UAH/kg. Some offers are slightly lower than the specified price minimum in the East, but operators note that this mainly concerns animals larger than the standard slaughter weight. In general, there is currently a regional divergence in price quotations for live pigs, with lower prices in the East and higher prices in the West and Centre. The market average this week is 60.3 UAH/kg, which is 4.8% lower than at the beginning of the month.

Most meat processors attribute the negative price dynamics to the seasonal weakening of pork sales amid a sufficient supply of live animals, including due to the presence of higher weight animals on the market. Procurers note that due to lower trading activity, they have significant carry-over stocks, which, according to some of them, will continue to put pressure on the purchase price at the next auction. Therefore, although a number of processors believe that this Friday's price negotiations may end in stabilisation or slight negative price fluctuations, some of them are convinced of a further decline in purchase prices by 4-6% in the third decade of the month and a recovery in quotations at the turn of the season.

The results of the weekly monitoring of purchase prices from processors can be found in this section.
