Rice and corn prices rise globally, wheat prices fall

Average wheat prices were 5 percent lower in December compared to the same period last year, while corn prices rose 9 percent and rice prices rose 12 percent, according to the World Bank's Food Security Update.

Corn and wheat prices are 28% and 18% higher, respectively, than in January 2021, while rice prices are 11% lower.

The December 15 update showed that the agricultural and export price indices were up 1% and 6%, respectively, from the last update prepared on December 1. The grain price index closed at the same level.
