The range of fluctuations in purchase prices for slaughterhouse pigs has remained unchanged for five weeks in a row: most consignments are purchased at 74-76 UAH/kg, as in previous weeks. Although prices in the Centre and East, where the supply of conditioned pork is more limited than in other regions, sometimes increased by 0.5-1 UAH/kg, they remained mostly within the price range mentioned above. This fluctuation was reflected in the weighted average market price, which this week was 74.55 UAH/kg, up half a percent from the week before.
The point correction of quotations in the central and eastern regions was caused by the situational activation of procurers before the start of the preliminary auction: a number of pork producers noted the willingness of operators to book additional batches in the middle of the week, while most producers did not have surpluses.
This week, suppliers of conditioned live bait report a planned course of shipments. Processors believe that trade is seasonally inactive, but do not rule out that, like a week earlier, this will not affect the level of purchase prices, so they may remain unchanged.
