During last week's auction, the range of purchase prices for slaughter pigs remained unchanged, so most consignments were purchased in the range of 74-77+ UAH/kg. At the same time, the highest prices this week were recorded not only in the East, but also in the central regions. Regional average prices increased by 0.1-0.5%, while the market average rose by 0.3% to UAH 74.8/kg.
Meat processors have different opinions on further price changes. While most expect prices to remain stable, some do not rule out the possibility of an increase in the minimum price threshold and, as a result, a further rise in the market average. Although final sales do not yet show clear signals of a pickup in demand, suppliers of raw meat have noted a slight increase in activity from deep meat processing companies, which are replenishing raw materials for the production of meat products for Easter. In addition, the noticeable warming of the weather has also brought more optimism, and some processors believe that this year's picnic season may start before Easter.
