In mid-September, purchasing prices for pork went up again against a shortage of live stock, say analysts of the Association Ukranian Pig Breeders.

The trades in the 37th week for the operators of the domestic pork market ended with an increase in quotations by 2-3 UAH / kg compared to last week. Thus, the price of a kilo of pork live weight in the western and central regions fluctuated mainly in the range of 68-70 UAH / kg. The deficit of conditioned pork in the East contributed to the price increase to 70-73 UAH/kg.

Processors unanimously confirm increasing shortage of slaughter pigs. Thus, according to their evidence, a significant portion of livestock coming to the market is of "summer" slaughter weight, which is inferior to the standard one. In addition, a number of operators have reduced the volume of commercial batches, or are forced to skip sales so that the animals could gain the necessary weight. At the same time, most processing representatives say that the pace of sales has not yet weakened, while many operators are experiencing difficulties with the procurement of pork in sufficient quantities to meet all requests. Therefore, some processors were forced to increase the radius of purchase of live stock, despite the significant logistics costs.

The results of the weekly monitoring of the procurement prices of processors can be found in this section.
