As for April 1, there are 3.51 million pig’s heads in farms. It is reported by analysts of Association of Ukrainian pig breeders with reference to State Statistic Service data.
The analysts admit that this index is by 63,3 thousand lower than it was in early 2017. Compared to the corresponding data of the last year, this change is more “dramatic”. At the beginning of the second quarter of 2016, the commercial livestock number was by 300 thousand or 7,9 % heads bigger.
Compared to the corresponding period of the last year, the derivation of pig number on the backyard farm is 286 thousand heads.
However, if the decreasing of commercial livestock number has grown in March, the backyards farms recovered by adding almost 145 thousand heads. Nevertheless, almost in all regions (except Zakarpattia) observes the lower domestic pig’s number, compared to the spring 2016.
The AUPB analysts admit that the total number of pigs in Ukraine is 6,7 million heads. It is more than by the half a million heads less than a year before.
Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders — is a non-profit, voluntary organization. Established in July 14-th, 2011. At present, AUPB unites 35 farms, breeding stock of which amounts to 35% of the national volume. The main objective of the Association is to protect rights and interests of pig enterprises, achieve international standards of production due to implementation of modern technologies.
