First Deputy Prime Minister — Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Sviridenko during the meeting with the EU Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Janez Lenarčič discussed the range of issues related to the support that the European Union provides to Ukraine.

Ongoing assistance from European partners is tangible for Ukraine, namely:243 million euros has been allocated for humanitarian projects for civilians affected by the war. These funds help to cover the critical vital needs of people;

Another 330 million euros was allocated by the EU for an emergency support program, which gives Ukrainians access to basic goods and services, protects internally displaced people, helps host communities, and facilitates the reconstruction of small-scale civilian infrastructure.

«Through the EU civil protection mechanism, Ukraine receives medicine, food, fire trucks, power generators, ambulances and mobile hospitals».

«More than 14 million euros worth of equipment was sent to Ukraine from the medical stocks of the European Union, which are located in Germany, the Netherlands, Hungary and Greece», — Yulia Sviridenko also noted.

An important issue is the participation of the European Union in the implementation of the renovation plan for Ukraine after the end of the war.

«One of its fundamental parts is the prospect of EU membership. The first step is granting us the status of a candidate state. We expect such a decision in the near future,» said the Minister of Economy of Ukraine.

She thanked the European Union for support and stressed that the Government expects to continue the intensive cooperation and development of new programs to attract the aid.
