During the second stage of the project ‘Ensuring Animal Health in Ukraine’, the Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders (AUPB) together with the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) provided pig farms with the opportunity to test feed raw materials for mycotoxins, as well as to detect pathogens in the respiratory, gastrointestinal, reproductive tracts and to test the detected microorganisms for antibiotic sensitivity. Laboratory tests include
- Determination of the content of the complex of major mycotoxins (aflatoxin B1, ochratoxin A, zearalenone, DON, fumonisins, T-2 toxin), general toxicity and the number of mould and yeast fungi;
- bacteriological examination of the respiratory complex of diseases of pigs together with the determination of antibiotic sensitivity (MIC);
- bacteriological study of the gastrointestinal complex of diseases of pigs with the determination of antibiotic sensitivity (MIC);
- bacteriological study of endometritis pathogens with determination of antibiotic susceptibility (MIC);
We remind you that with the support of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), in the first phase of the project (2023), twenty pig farms received free laboratory veterinary tests, including member enterprises of the Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders operating in the de-occupied territories or in the regions most affected by the military aggression of the Russian Federation.
The Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders is a non-profit, voluntary organisation founded by domestic pork producers. The main goals of the association are to represent and protect the rights and interests of the association's farms, promote the development and implementation of new technologies for efficient pork production, expand sales markets, and protect the domestic market.
