The year 2022 was special — there are significant easing from the EU on the export of products from Ukraine. Among other things, there is a certain understanding that it may be pork products, which before was not even particularly discussed.

President of Association of Ukranian Pig Breeders (AUPB) Oksana Yurchenko stated about this.

"We worked with experts and the veterinary service to have "draft" questionnaires ready in advance for companies that want to check whether they meet the requirements of EU regulations," she said.

A number of processors interested in exporting pork have gone through these questionnaires to assess what they need to polish up to prove their compliance.

"Next year, in cooperation with international organizations, we will begin informal audits to support such producers. Right now there are four companies," Oksana Yurchenko stressed.

The AUPB estimates that the European Union will be open to exports of domestic pork for up to two years, and this is not a pessimistic scenario.

Meanwhile, official approvals of international certificates for the export of pork with Vietnam and Hong Kong are being promoted, Oksana Yurchenko added.

"But so far this is not very relevant, because the sea routes are closed, and other logistics for producers is financially unprofitable," Yurchenko specified.
