Total damage from the war in Ukrainian agriculture has reached $4.3 billion.

Key figures:

In the damage structure, the largest losses are recorded as a result of destruction or partial damage to farmland and unharvested crops — $ 2.135 million. THE TOTAL LOSS WAS $ 2.135 MILLION. Farmland suffered two significant types of damage — mine contamination and direct physical damage. The cost of surveying land at high risk of mine contamination and clearing affected areas is estimated at $ 436 million.

The southern regions currently suffering from Russian occupation and heavy fighting are also the regions with the most developed irrigation infrastructure. The approximate cost of replacing and repairing damaged irrigation infrastructure is $ 225 million.

In addition to direct land damage — occupation, military operations and mine contamination limit farmers' access to fields and harvesting opportunities. Approximately 2.4 million hectares of winter crops worth $ 1.435 billion will go unharvested. The Russian Federation's aggression will leave $ 2.4 billion worth of winter crops unharvested. Farm machinery and equipment are also damaged by shelling, air strikes and fighting in close proximity.

The estimated cost of replacing and repairing damaged machinery is $ 926.1 million. THE ESTIMATED COST OF REPLACING THE DAMAGED MACHINERY IS $ 926.1 MILLION. There is evidence that the Russian Federation is purposefully destroying elevator facilities in order to weaken the Ukrainian agricultural sector. The total amount of damage or destruction of grain storage facilities is estimated at $ 272 million.

The estimated value of dead animals is more than $ 136 million. Domestic animals die not only from active fighting, but also from limited physical access to farms, limited ability to purchase feed and veterinary services.

The estimated number of animals killed as a result of Russian aggression in the affected areas is 42 thousand heads of sheep and goats, 92 thousand heads of cattle, 258 thousand pigs and more than 5.700 thousand heads of poultry.
