The main importers of Ukrainian grain this season remain the EU and China, sharing the first and second positions. Their shares in total exports amounted to 44% and 24%, respectively (10.9 mln t and 6 mln t in physical terms). In this case, if the EU increased purchases of Ukrainian corn in relation to the level of October-August 2020/21 MY (by 51%), China reduced purchases of grain by 30%. The third position in the ranking of the major corn importers is occupied by Turkey: its import increased in comparison with the previous season by 2.6 times - from 639.5 thousand tons to 1.6 million tons, and its share in total export increased from 3% to 7%.
According to analysts estimates of "APK-Inform IA", in 2022/23 MY under the optimistic scenario, that is under further automatic continuation of "grain corridor" corn export from Ukraine is expected to reach the level of 24,3 thousand tons (-5% to assessment of 2021/22 season). At the pessimistic scenario shipment of Ukrainian grain to the foreign market could reach only 14.5 million tons, which is 43% inferior to the export in 2021/22 MY (25.4 million tons).
