On 27 November 2024, during the online session on biosecurity and the fight against antimicrobial resistance, Vitaliy Bashynsky, international expert on biosecurity in animal production and food safety, will talk about important aspects of protecting pig farms, in particular those related to inputs and by-products. These factors are extremely important for preventing the introduction of pathogens on farms, which can lead to serious epizootics in the industry.

Thus, during the presentation ‘Risk factors for farms specialising in pig production. Minimising the risk of infection of the herd with newly acquired stock, management of inputs and by-products’, the session participants will gain a basic understanding and valuable recommendations on the main hazards and risks of infection, learn about global approaches and examples from Ukraine, and will be able to implement the presented solutions on their farms.

‘The first session will focus on incoming materials. We will talk about how to protect the farm from infection through by-products, fomites and newly acquired livestock. The presentation will focus on international experience and best practices applied both in Ukraine and abroad,’ comments Vitalii Bashynskyi.

The training is organised by the Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as part of the joint project ‘’Keeping Animals Healthy in Ukraine‘’.

The issue of biosecurity is critical for the successful operation of a modern pig farm. Join the session to learn how to implement effective approaches in your business.
