Hesse has successfully completed the construction of the 54-kilometer-long protective fence to contain African swine fever (ASF) along the B45 and L3095. Following coordination between the Hessian Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the Darmstadt Regional Council, THW, HessenForst, HessenMobil, and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service, the first fence post was erected on August 22.

The new fence stretches from Eppertshausen to Münster (Hesse) along the L3095 and continues along the B45 to the Baden-Württemberg border. The fence serves as a barrier to contain ASF in the direction of the Odenwald and the neighboring states of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg.

Much of the material used comes from Brandenburg, where it has already been successfully used to contain ASF. By reusing the material, the project could be carried out quickly and resources could be conserved. The collaboration between the various authorities and organizations, including close cooperation with the neighboring state of Baden-Württemberg, contributed significantly to the rapid construction of the fence.
