The adoption of this law creates grounds for the cancellation of the list of critical imports that has been in effect since the beginning of the Russian invasion.
With the deployment of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, the NBU decided to restrict foreign currency payments abroad and allowed payments only under the list of critical imports. The said list was approved by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
The list of critical imports was revised upwards 18 times, as Ukrainian businesses needed it, which resumed production. Almost all changes to the resolution on critical imports were made on the basis of appeals of Ukrainian companies. Today, the list of critical imports contains about 90% of all product categories.
