On February 28, a case of African swine fever (ASF) was detected in a private pig farm in the village of Novokaira, Milivska united territorial community, Beryslav district.

With support from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders (AUPB) surveyed representatives of abattoirs and meat processing plants on their assessment of the risks of the spread of swine disease since the start of the full-scale invasion. Questioning of representatives of meat processing industry and other participants of domestic pork market (industrial and domestic pork producers, hunters, etc.) the ASU carries out in the framework of the project «Ensuring Animal Health in Ukraine».

Dr. Megan Niederwerder, deputy director of the Swine Health Information Center in Iowa, has received a 4-year grant from the US federal government to study the susceptibility of soybean feed ingredients to ASF infection.
