Veterinary School: Integrity of the Intestinal Barrier is the Key to Piglet Health

The third training for pig farm specialists implemented by the Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders (AUPB) with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) starts at 27th of June at 12:00 (Kyiv time).

The module focuses on (i) diseases of sows, (ii) diseases of suckling piglets, (iii) topical diseases of the gastrointestinal tract of suckling piglets, and (iv) integrity of the intestinal barrier. Each speaker's presentation will be followed by a discussion session. To test their knowledge, participants will take a short test at the end of the lectures.

Invited speaker Dmytro Masyuk, Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, Professor, Director of the Research Center for Biosafety and Environmental control of agricultural resources of the State Research Institute "Biosafety Center". In his lecture, the speaker will focus on ways to ensure piglet health, which are related to the concept of gut health.


The training of veterinary medicine specialists of pig farms is carried out within the framework of the project "Ensuring Animal Health in Ukraine", which is implemented by the Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders together with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The program of the veterinary school consists of five modules, each of which contains four presentations on related topics. Teaching materials are prepared by leading domestic and foreign experts. Participants who pass the full course of training will receive certificates.


The Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders (AUPB) is a non-profit, voluntary organization founded by domestic pork producers. The main goals of the association are to represent and protect the rights and interests of the association's farms, promote the development and implementation of new technologies for efficient pork production, expand sales markets, and protect the domestic market.
