In January-February 2017, export of pig byproducts supplies has increased. It is reported by analytical department of the Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders (AUPB) with a reference to the State Statistic Service of Ukraine (SSSU).

Within two winter months traders have shipped 1.2 thousand tons of other frozen byproducts that is twice more than in January-February 2016.

The main export directions remain Hong Kong and Vietnam, although there were «test» shipments to Liberia in January and occasional ones to Georgia in February. These operations increased the country’s Foreign Trade balance for such products by 1.1 million USA dollars. Ukraine instead delivered 0.76 thsd. tons of pig offal for a value of 0.4 million dollars. As a result the country is «in the black» under this commodity item now.

AUPB experts point out that this year frozen revenues of other pork by-products decreased by almost half compared to the previous year, while frozen pork liver declined by 42% (2.14 ths. tons to 3.7 thousand. tons a year ago). Shipments of frozen pork fat also decreased and was delivered by 14.3% less than in the corresponding period of 2016 year (5.4 thousand tones) during the first two months of 2017. Although domestic export of «national» product was a bit more active, but remained quite low in volume.

Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders — is a non-profit, voluntary organization. Established in July 14-th, 2011. At present, AUPB unites 35 farms, breeding stock of which amounts to 35% of the national volume. The main objective of the Association is to protect rights and interests of pig enterprises, achieve international standards of production due to implementation of modern technologies.
