There is a controversy, among pork producers, about the feasibility of feeding soya-based diets yet. Since, there are many supporters and opponents of this feed ingredient.

It is because soya provides the body high quality protein and it’s important source of energy, on the one hand, and on the other hand, unprocessed soya products contain low-digestibility of phosphorus, oligosaccharides, allergenic proteins and anti-nutrients         extractives that inhibit the growth of pigs.

However, modern methods of thermal and chemical processing of soya products eliminate all "harmful" factors and increase the possibility of feed, making it useful even for weaner and sows. Therefore, following soya products are used to feed pigs nowadays all over the world today:

  • Soya oil meal;
  • Extruded soya;
  • Whole-oil soybean;
  • Enzyme soya oil meal;
  • Soybean protein concentrate;
  • Isolate soya protein.

They are rich in minerals, energy (on digestible and exchange energy not inferior) and protein. In particular, soybeans are a "gold standard" of high quality protein for pigs, because their amino acid profile complements the amino acid profiles of several grains.

What is the nutritional composition of various soya foods and what is better to feed for pigs, read in the fresh issue of “Profitable pig production” No. 4 (40), August 2017.

The magazine "Profitable pig production" is a unique specialized publication in Ukraine devoted exclusively to pig farming. The first number appeared in September 2010.
