As a result of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, more than 300 livestock farms have been damaged or destroyed. About 7,000 cattle and 3.5 million poultry were killed. This is stated in the report of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

Taras Vysotsky, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, said that Ukraine has all the prerequisites for the effective development of the meat industry and the realization of its export potential.

According to the official, several challenges need to be overcome for the successful development of the livestock industry. One of them is energy.

"Livestock is an industry where there can be no pause in production. For the sector to develop and be stable, we need a constant supply of animal feed and uninterrupted energy supply," he said.

According to the deputy minister, one of the important tasks of the livestock industry is to export products. And there are positive developments here. This year, pork production is expected to increase by 4% compared to 2022. Exports of meat and meat products are also growing.

In particular, in the first 9 months of 2023, the growth in meat exports was more than 10% compared to 2022. Pork exports increased almost 2.5 times. According to the short-term forecast for 2024, poultry and pork production is expected to stabilize.
