Public joint-stock company “Plemzavod ”Stepnoy” is situated at the address Zapovitne village, Kamensko-Dniprovsky district of Zaporizhia region. The main forms of business activity of the farm are cereal and technical crops production, hog breeding and semen production, meat and milk production and processing. Crops are grown at the area of 12,300 haof land.
The farm started pig breeding in 1983. Thanks to the intense work and high achievements, PJSC Plemzavod ”Stepnoy” was awarded the status of a breeding pig farm in producing the following breeds:
- Duroc(since 1989);
- Large White (since 2001);
- Landrace (since 2009).
The pig herd size is eight thousand heads per year.
At the farm Landrace and Large White pigs of English breeding program are bred. Besides, a new type of interbreed pig of Duroc of Ukrainian breeding programme (“Stepnoy”) with improved reproduction capacity and productivity levelwas createdthere. PJSC Plemzavod ”Stepnoy” is a permanent participant of state and international pig inductry exhibitions, and has repeatedly received the winner’s diploma for the breeds and individual animals.
